Data Science Seminar Date: Friday, 18 October 2024 Time: 3:30 - 4:30 PM Venue: NKN Hall Data Analytics for Climate Modeling: Focusing on Extreme Events Sudeep Shukla CEO, Environment Pollution Analysis Lab. 18-10-24 Abstract Climate change is intensifying the frequency and severity of extreme events, such as hurricanes, floods, heatwaves, and wildfires. Accurate climate modelling is essential for understanding these events, assessing their risks, and developing effective adaptation strategies. Data analytics plays a crucial role in enhancing climate modelling capabilities, particularly when focussing on extreme events. My lecture will explore the application of data analytics techniques to climate modelling, with a specific emphasis on extreme events. The participant will learn the importance of high-quality data, including observational data, climate model outputs, and socioeconomic pathways, along with the application of advanced data analysis methods, such as machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modelling, to extract valuable insights from these data.
