Abstract

Professor Thanu Padmanabhan, known affectionately as Paddy, passed away on 17 September 2021. An internationally acclaimed Indian Theoretical Physicist and Cosmologist, Paddy was a guiding light for all his students and younger colleagues who interacted with him. He contributed significantly to a broad spectrum of topics in astrophysics, cosmology, and classical and quantum aspects of gravitation. In this talk, I hope to be able to give a glimpse of Paddy's work, his enormous breadth of scientific expertise, and most importantly, his style of doing and talking science which has left an indelible mark on everyone who interacted with him.
