Abstract

In this joint work with M Krithika we start with attempts by other authors in generalizing cyclotomic polynomials. Our attempt is focused on factorization

property of X^m-1 and so the degrees of the generalized polynomials are on expected lines.

We will describe some applications to constructive Galois theory. As an offshoot, the concept of algebraic numbers with uniform degree arose naturally and it was a pleasant fact to discover that such numbers are ubiquitous.
