Abstract

A great opportunity to learn about alt data and its uses in investment research. Understand what alt data is and isn’t, and how to get innovative with the available data sources. We will cover a range of case studies from social media sentiment data, to location and satellite data, to web scrapes. Get to know how some of the banks and hedge funds have approached the alt data space over the past decade.

About the speaker - Hemen is a technologist, specializing in global alternative data, leading data governance, data quality control, and data lineage automation across investment banking divisions. He spent 15 years at Morgan Stanley, where he co-founded AlphaWise, an evidence-driven global research team, where he created a robust process to source web and vendor data in order to bring unique insights that complement fundamental stock research.
