Abstract

We will discuss connections between certain theorems in topology and in arithmetic, specifically homological stability, stability in point counts and zeta functions. Some of these connections are theorems and some are heuristics. Our typical example will be the configuration space of n distinct points on the complex plane, also thought of as the space of non-singular polynomials of degree n.
