Abstract

Soft hair refers to zero energy excitations distinguishable through their (near horizon) boundary charges. The near horizon symmetries are generated rather generically by Heisenberg algebras, leading to soft Heisenberg hair. In three spacetime dimensions soft Heisenberg hair leads to an explicit semi-classical proposal for black hole microstates.
