Abstract

We define J-holomorphic curves and compare them with holomorphic maps between complex manifolds. Towards studying their local nature, we state and give some details of their analytic-like behaviour. Finally, we introduce a result about the space of simple J-holomorphic curves all homologous to each other, and define some concepts used in its proof. Familiarity with basic complex geometry including notions of almost complex structures and forms will be helpful, and largely assumed.
