Abstract

Gauge fields are of central importance in our understanding of quantum field theories in flat spacetime. Spatial boundaries can modify the dynamics and quantization of gauge theories, as is known through the Casimir effect and topological field theories in condensed matter physics for example. In this talk, I will explore the effects of Killing horizons on gauge theories defined on fixed black hole backgrounds.
