Some questions on uncertainty principles in harmonic analysis on Lie groups
Chennai Mathematical Institute.
The following is a meta theorem in Fourier Analysis : A function `f and its Fourier transform cannot be simultaneously localised. We give several instances of this meta theorem and, with apologies to physicists, show some connections with Uncertainty Principles in Physics. If time permits, we will discuss some generalisations to Abstract Harmonic Analysis and mention some open problems. THIS TALK IS SPECIALLY MEANT FOR STUDENTS.
