Abstract

An intuitive review of the concept of a knot group will be presented, highlighting its importance to both mathematics and physics. Simple physics ideas will then be used to derive an exact expression for a flat connection on the complement of a trefoil knot. An attempt will be made to make the mathematics and physics understandable to a general audience.
