Abstract

Let F be a totally real field and f be a Hilbert modular form over F. It is well known that there is a two dimensional Galois representation attached to f. If we assume that f is ordinary at p the local Galois representations at p are upper triangular. We study the case when these representations are diagonal. This is joint work with Eknath Ghate from TIFR.
