Chevalley Structure Theorem on Algebraic groups, and beyond Michel Brion Institut Fourier, Grenoble, France. 10-01-11 Abstract Specifically, I would start by presenting a classical theorem of Chevalley which asserts that any connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field is an extension of an abelian variety by a connected linear algebraic group. Then I would turn to recent developments related to this theorem: about actions of non-linear algebraic groups, anti-affine algebraic groups, and homogeneous principal bundles over abelian varieties.
