Abstract

Twisted K-theory appeared in the literature long time ago in the works of Donovan-Karoubi. However, its relevance to physics has only recently been realised. There are two prominent ways of looking at twisted K-theory - operator algebraic and homotopy theoretic. In this talk I will describe twisted K-theory from the operator algebraic point of view. Some familiarity with $C^*$-algebras and basic category theory will be assumed.
