Abstract

Climate change is very much in the public awareness today. The public debate on the issue often tends to focus on the credibility of personalities and institutions. However, the current concern about emissions and global warming is based on hard scientific evidence. While climate science is a sophisticated and technical discipline, the basic principles and data based on which the conclusions are drawn can be appreciated by any scientific layperson. This talk will attempt to present the data and the reasoning underlying the concerns of the climate scientists at a level accessible to anyone with a reasonable appreciation of the scientific methodology.
