Abstract

The day's session will detail the origin, structure, classification and nuances of this performing art.

Mohiniyattom is popularly known as the dance of the enchantress, as it derives its very name from Mohini, the transformed form of the Lord of the universe, Mahavishnu as the enchantress.

The day's speaker, Mrs.Sujatha Ramachandran, is a mohiniyattom dancer under the tutelage of Guru Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, who is one of the torch-bearers of this art form today.

She is very keenly involved in the spreading of authentic ayurvedic practices and her family runs ayurveda centers under the brand name of Prakriti in the city.
