Cocompact lattices in semisimple groups Prof. M.S. Raghunathan Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. 28-07-05 Abstract In this talk I will outline Minkowski reduction for SL(n) and the Mahler and Godement criteria for co-compactness. Using these I will show the existence of cocompact arithmetic subgroups in semisimple groups.
