Seminar Announcement Celebrating Women in Mathematics as part of May 12th Initiative at CMI. Speaker: Suparna Sen, University of Calcutta, Kolkata Date: Monday, 10 June 2024 Time: 11:00 AM Venue: Online Some Uncertainty principles in Harmonic Analysis Suparna Sen University of Calcutta. 10-06-24 Abstract An Uncertainty Principle in Harmonic analysis in general refers to a result of the form - a function and its Fourier transform cannot both be "small" without being identically zero. Depending on different notions of smallness and various related optimal conditions, there are several manifestations of this phenomenon. We will discuss some of these results including some recent ones. Anyone who has done a first course in analysis and algebra would understand this talk. About the speaker : Suparna Sen got her Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Her area of interest is Harmonic Analysis. She was a recipient of CSIR Shyama Prasad Mukherjee award in 2007. She was awarded NBHM Post Doctoral Fellowship in 2011. She worked as INSPIRE Faculty at ISI Kolkata. At present, she works as a faculty member in Department of Pure Mathematics at University of Calcutta.
