Abstract

Let G_{r,n} denote the Grassmannian parametrizing r-dimensional subspaces of an n-dimensional complex space. Assume r, n are coprime. There is a natural action of the torus of diagonal matrices in SL(n) on the Grassmannian. In this talk, we show that the GIT quotients of certain Richardson varieties in the Grassmannian for this action are product of projective spaces with respect to the descent of a suitable line bundle.

We will assume no background and hope to make the talk accessible.
