Abstract

In this talk I will present a proof of a celebrated theorem due to A. Bondal and D. Orlov, which states that if X and Y are two smooth projective varieties over a field k such that either the canonical(resp. anti canonical) bundle of X is ample and if there is an exact equivalence between the bounded derived categories of X and Y, then the canonical (resp. anti canonical) bundle of Y is ample and in fact X and Y are isomorphic.

As a prerequisite, 2nd and 3rd Chapter of Hartshorne and familiarity with basics of derived category of an abelian category would be useful.
