Prof. Michelle Gallo's Lecture Series Date: 12, 14, 19 and 21 February 2024 @ 11.50 AM ,20 February 2024 @ 3.30 PM Venue: Seminar Hall Tensor Data Analysis Michelle Gallo University of Naples, Italy. 21-02-24 Abstract
The goal of the lecture series is to present the fundamentals of tensors in data analysis. It will cover tensor decompositions, exploring their theoretical properties, and their strengths and weaknesses. In addition, it will cover algorithms for parameter estimation, such as how to select which decomposition to use and how to interpret their results. All examples will be illustrated by R software packages. Detailed outline General introduction Tensor - Objects, Manipulation, Operators Matrix decomposition – Uniqueness, SVD, QR, Cholesky decomposition Tensor rank decompositions – CP model- Properties, ALS algorithm, Diagnostic indices, Other algorithms Tucker model - Properties, HOSVD algorithm, Diagnostic indices, Other algorithms About the Speaker: Dr Michelle Gallo is a Professor of Statistics at University of Naples- L'Orientale, Italy.
