Abstract

As financial markets grow increasingly complex, traditional investment strategies—based on intuition, subjective judgment, and fundamental analysis—are being transformed by data science. This presentation examines how data-driven models and machine learning are revolutionizing finance, providing more objective, scalable, and efficient tools for decision-making. We will trace the evolution of the asset management industry (AMC), from its origins in the United States to its rapid growth in India, highlighting key trends in the US that reshaped the industry. With the Indian AMC sector now at a pivotal inflection point, we will explore the role of data-driven systems in shaping its future and the technological advancements being developed to drive this transformation. Lastly, we will discuss the exciting career opportunities emerging in this evolving industry, with a focus on how students can leverage their skills in data science and finance to build impactful careers in asset management.
