Abstract

Hirzebruch surfaces, as ruled surfaces over the projective line, along with the projective plane, constitute the class of minimal rational surfaces. The study of rational surfaces can therefore be reduced to the examination of blow ups of these surfaces at finitely many points. While the blow ups of P^2 have been extensively investigated, this talk will focus on the computation of Seshadri constants for ample line bundles on certain blow ups of Hirzebruch surfaces.
