Abstract

Probability theory in its genesis has a tool to prototype real-world phenomena. However, having established its axiomatic foundation, applying it to number theory allows us to model behaviour of arithmetic functions and beyond. In this spirit, we shall recap some probabilistic vocabulary, look at the Erdos-Kac theorem that arguably started it all, and then finish with an interesting analogous result in a group-theoretic setup.
