Abstract

Let S be a smooth projective complex surface. The nested Hilbert scheme, denoted by S^[n_1,n_2,...,n_k], parametrizes nested zero-dimensional subschemes Z_{n_1} ??? ... ??? Z_{n_k} where Z_i is a closed subscheme of S of length i. In this talk we show that the nested Hilbert schemes S^[n,m], S^[n,m,m+1], S^[n,n+1,m], S^[ n,n+1,m,m+1], S^[n,n+2,m], S^[n,n+2,m,m+1] are irreducible. This is a joint work with Ronnie Sebastian and Chandranandan Gangopadhyay.
