Abstract

Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is a fundamental technology in robotics, augmented reality, and autonomous navigation systems. In this talk, we explore the mathematical foundation of Visual SLAM, starting with the essential concepts of geometry and linear algebra. The camera model, which relates 3D real-world points to 2D image pixels, is central to Visual SLAM and relies heavily on perspective geometry. The process of tracking camera motion and updating the map is typically achieved through the use of nonlinear optimization techniques, such as bundle adjustment and the Gauss-Newton algorithm.
