Symplectic Geometry mini-workshop, 20 – 24 May 2024
This workshop will consist of 2 lecture series at CMI by
Dr. Mohan Swaminathan (Stanford University) and
Dr. Yash Deshmukh (Institute of Advanced Studies, Princeton).
- Mohan Swaminathan,
The stable map moduli space and its boundary strata
(3 lectures).
- Pre-requisites: Differential forms, connections on vector bundles;
Algebraic curves/Riemann surfaces, Riemann-Roch theorem. Additionally, it would
help to have seen the blow up of a complex surface at a point, the strict
transform, as well as the dictionary between affine varieties and their
coordinate rings.
- Yash Deshmukh The three avatars of Hochschild cohomology.
(3 lectures).
- Pre-requisites:
Algebras and modules over them, chain complexes, tensor products; singular and
de Rham cohomology, cup product, intersection product. It would be helpful to
have some familiarity with derived functors (Ext, Tor) and the derived category
of sheaves, plus the definitions of symplectic manifold, Lagrangian
submanifolds, Hamiltonian flows, but all this is not strictly necessary.
More details will be announced here later.
The target audience is beginning researchers
in geometry (algebraic, symplectic, or differential) but others with interest
in this area are also welcome to participate. We will be able to
accommodate up to 10-15 non-local participants.
Applying
Please send an email to
Sukhendu Mehrotra (email address listed on that URL).
Deadline : 3rd May 2024. We will consider late applications if
there is a possibility of accommodating them.
If you are a student or a postdoc, please include a write-up (not more than two
pages, PDF only) of your research interests and list of publications (if
applicable).
