Ubiquity of Schubert varieties

Abstract:

After introducing the (classical) Grassmannian varieties, Flag varieties and their Schubert varieties, we shall exhibit the ubiquity of Schubert varieties by showing the connection between many algebraic varieties and Schubert varieties. We shall also present results concerning affine Schubert varieties.
