Abstract

Big Data Analytics has gained a high importance in recent times across the wide range of industries, be it Retail, Banking, Insurance, Utilities or Media and Entertainment. In this talk, I would briefly introduce Big Data Analytics space and the important role a Statistician has in it. Data from social media and networking sites is one of the most important sources of Big Data. I would describe how the information contained in these ever-growing data sources has become an invaluable tool to draw business insights. I will briefly describe what iGate has been doing in this area. I would also touch upon some of the challenges it poses in terms of data analysis. I will conclude the talk by summarizing what industry expects from statisticians in order to find better solutions in this analytics space.
