Varieties not homeomorphic to their conjugates

Abstract

We will discuss the problem of a variety defined over a number field such that the space of complex points with respect to two different embeddings of the number field in complex numbers are not homeomorphic. The original example was given by Serre, and we will discuss an example in the context of Shimura varieties.
