Abstract

I will discuss the structure of the fundamental group of a punctured disc (viewed as an analytic variety D^*) defined over a p-adic field of characteristic zero. The main result is a "slope decomposition" for local systems on the etale site of D^*, analogous to the slope decomposition of an l-adic representation of the absolute Galois group of a local field of characteristic p>0.
