For admission to all the courses of the Institute, a mechanism is followed in order to ensure reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Physically Challenged (PC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories (referred collectively as reserved categories in this document) as per the policy of the Government of India (GoI). The admission process consists of a written examination. For some courses, the written examination is followed by an oral examination (interview). For each examination, the list of passed candidates has appropriate proportional representation as per GoI rules, subject to their receiving the minimum qualifying score. The qualifying score is relaxed for the reserved categories. Guidelines for PC candidatesFor any category of disability (viz., locomotor, visual, speech and hearing), benefit would be given to those candidates who have at least 40% permanent physical impairment in relation to a body part / system / extremity / extremities / whole body, etc. Candidates in this category will be required to produce, at the time of admission, a certificate issued by a competent authority in the following format.
