Abstract: We relate the formulation of classical mechanics in the Hamilton-Poisson and Hamilton-Jacobi approaches to that of quantum mechanics in the Heisenberg and Schrodinger approaches. The quantum-classical correspondence is illustrated using Ehrenfest's theorem, Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization conditions, the WKB approximation and semiclassical expansion. Finally, we use an example to motivate a trace formula connecting the quantum energy spectrum to a sum over classical periodic orbits.
