Abstract

We will discuss some general results about actions of G_a on affine varieties (particularly of dimension at most 3). Proof of a new result proved jointly with A. Sathaye that the quotient X//G_a of a smooth affine 3-fold X modulo an action of G_a is smooth under a mild condition will be presented.
