Abstract

Entanglement is viewed as a physical resource in quantum information theory. While a substantial understanding of pure bipartite entanglement exists today, the quantification of entanglement present in mixed states has proved to be difficult. Investigations on tripartite states reveal a richer structure and show that no single measure of entanglement is sufficient to characterize the structure of multipartite states. The talk will provide a brief introduction to the subject of entanglement quantification, giving an expository outline of some related issues.
