My name is Vipul Naik.
My photograph can be viewed here.
I have recently been working on my Group Theory wiki. The wiki's guideline pages are currently being sorted out, as is the wiki's content. The wiki is now viewable for outside use. Also of interest may be Topospaces, the Topology Wiki, Commalg, The Commutative Algebra Wiki, and Ref, The Subject Wikis Reference Guide.
I have finished a three-year B.Sc. (Hons) programme in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Chennai Mathematical Institute. I will soon be proceeding for Doctoral Studies in Mathematics at the University of Chicago, so my homepage is likely to shift soon! Learn more about my academic life so far and about my future plans. Also, check out my competencies page.
I am pursuing mathematics because I have been fond of mathematics since childhood. You can learn more about my areas of interest within mathematics here.
My primary purpose in putting up this webpage is to share some interesting ideas and documents. I have proposed and tried to work on a few unsolved problems. One unsolved problem (or rather, area of problems) on which I have worked a lot is extensible automorphisms.
I have represented India twice at the International Mathematical Olympiad. My experiences with the Olympiads were crucial in shaping both my love for mathematics and my mathematical knowledge. I have collected some useful information for Olympiad aspirants in the Olympiad resources section.
During my second year, I had tried my hand at writing introductions to basic topics in mathematics. I started off on this experiment but was unable to continue it for a long time due to other pressures on my time. Check out my Mathematical Journeys page for details.
One of my own pet theories is Property theory. I have used it extensively in the study of group and subgroup properties. Though the description on this webpage is somewhat outdated, do have a look at it if you are interested.
