Title: Isometric Dilations of Contractions.

Abstract: We will start with Sz.-Nagy's Dilation theorem which says that any
contraction on a Hilbert space has an isometric dilation. Then we will discuss
dilation of commuting tuple of contractions and the von Neumann's inequality as
a consequence. If time permits we will also discuss examples for non-existence
of commuting isometric dilations for tuple of more than two contractions.
Basics needed is only some basic functional analysis.
