Almost a century after the existence of gravitational waves was
predicted by Einstein, their first direct detection is expected to
happen in the next few years. Gravitational-wave observations will
provide excellent test beds for theories of gravity in the
strong-field regime. This talk will provide a broad survey of the
ongoing and planned effort in this direction employing observations
using the upcoming advanced interferometric gravitational-wave
detectors.
