  3. Quantum Mechanics (Non-relativistic theory) by Landau & Lifschitz (Course of Theoretical Physics Vol. 3)
  4. We also referred to books by Schiff, Liboff and Merxbacher from time to time
  5. Feynmann Lectures and Dirac's monographs are two more classics


Course outline: The quantum central force problem and angular momentum, hydrogen atom, addition of angular momenta, Clebsch-Gordan co-efficient, perturbation theory (time-independent non-degenerate and degenerate), Stark,Zeeman effects, fine structure etc in the Hydrogen atom, variational methods and the Helium atom, quasi-classical (WKB) approximations, time-dependent potentials and perturbation theory, scattering, Born approximation.
Course was graded as follows:
Mid-sem --- 35%
End-sem --- 50%
Term paper --- 5%
Assignments --- 10%
