English

At CMI, it is compulsory for us to take at least two Humanities course in the entire tenure of 3 years. English was the first such Humanities course. The class was highly exciting. Each time, it used to start with a talk that was given by the students only. Others would grade him on the basis of his talk. We discussed poetry, the ways to write poetry etc. We were asked to write poetry also (which most of us barely did). However, it was nice and interesting. As assignment, we gave an interview and I bet, the interview was just awesome. All details of the interview can be found here .

People who are really too much curious can get to know a lot about me from the rough transcript of my english talk

We did the following poems and short-stories as text-work:

Prof. ShreeKumar Varma was the instructor for this course. He was the ex-editor of The Hindu. He is also deeply interested in theatre and plays and has written plays himself. Books written by him are:

  1. Lament of Mohini (2000: Penguin Publications)
  2. Devils Garden (2005: Penguin Publications)
  3. The Royal Rebel (1997: Macmillan Publications)
