Classical Mechanics I

The course was basically the stuff we did in +2 level, but from a different perspective. We covered a wide range of topics namely,

• Dynamics of a particle motion in two and three dimensions
• Newton's Laws, reference frames.
• Applications of Newton's Laws
• Notion of energy
• Conservation of energy and other conservation Laws(namely, Law of Momentum Conservation)
• Collisions in two dimensions
• Conseravtive and non-conservative forces
• Notion of potential and its applications
• Central force fields
• Analysis of trajectories in central force fields
• Planetary motion in gravitational field
• Time independent perturbation in planetary motion
• Keplar's Laws in elliptic orbits
• Rotational motion
• Conservation of angular momentum

The books followed in this course were:

• Newtonian Mechanics (M.I.T Introductory Physics Course) by A.P French
• Classical Mechanics by Goldstein
